Curious search engine terms
-
Hey there,
I’ve noticed some curious search terms today that I’ve never seen before and they have a fair amount of hits:
site:http://carocat.co.uk/ inurl:”2007″ 33 More stats
site:http://carocat.co.uk/ inurl:”2006″ 13 More stats
site:http://carocat.co.uk/ inurl:”2008″ 13 More stats
site:http://carocat.co.uk/ inurl:”2009″ 3 More statsHas anyone noticed these before and know why they have so many hits? I can’t imagine all those people actually searching for that!

Those look like your archives. I’ve noticed that often google imagesearch returns links not to individual posts but to archives instead.

I use similar searches.
I am getting really annoyed with Google because sometimes I search and this search engine – the one meant to give me the most relevant info – gives me a result from 2005, or 2000 or something equally prehistoric. So I use search terms like that to narrow things down.
inurl is also useful for finding webcams of the world:
http://birdtable.derby-college.ac.uk/ViewerFrame?Mode=Motion&Language=4 for instanceYou can also search inurl:view/view/shtml and get wonders like this
http://138.25.6.37/view/view.shtml
http://217.125.138.27/view/view.shtml (busier when open probably)It’s an amusing diversion.

Yeah, Google doesn’t always give the latest results, but then again who are we to question this infallible search engine?! ;)
Thanks for the replies, raincoaster, Mark. Just strange I’ve never seen them before today and then with so many hits.

Do go check that page out and try some searches.
And don’t forget to use the – to exclude so searching for
something
will get you many result, but searching for
something -blogspot
removes all those results.

And I would do that because??? Actually, thanks to Twitter I know a friend of his, so we’ve got him surrounded. Sooner or later, everyone passes through Vangroover, and when he does, I’ll pop out of the trunk of his cab or something. You wanna go to Tris Hussey’s bachelor party? Well, guess who’s working the door that night?
