Hi, thanks for the quick support. I have been put in charge of building a website for my charitable car club. I’ve done some basic blogging on WordPress in the past and have a CS background with web experience but I felt WordPress would be a quick way to get something nice up and have an easy way (through your app) for others to help admin the site. I’m looking to build something pleasing to the eye that has albums that can be created with photos uploaded from the app and have an area to accept donations. I am certainly open to having WordPress build the site however since we are a small club and donate most of our raised money, pricing is important. Do you have a ballpark of what that service costs?

Thanks for the additional info!
Hi, thanks for the quick support. I have been put in charge of building a website for my charitable car club.
Nice, I’m not sure what kind of club that is, but Totoro has a real soft spot for oddball 60’s cars (BOP, AMCs, anything that’s unusual and cool) and would not mind rolling with you if I was closer.

That’s pretty doable, even if you were to set up the site yourself. I see you selected the Baskerville theme (demo site here) and that is very much an old-school blogging theme. It does lack some of the customization options of our newer block-based themes, but if you like it out-of-the-box it offers enough personalization options to make it yours, and it sure looks nice when filled with blog posts that have a featured image set.
That said, much of the look of that site is in the design of the blog template (homepage by default) do you plan on blogging quite a bit on this site? Or did you have more of a custom homepage design in mind?
Galleries are something you can set up on any page you wish, so you could (for example) add a gallery in every blog post, and upload event photos to share that way. Or you could create a bunch of pages and organize them in your site menu as dropdowns, and then add galleries to each of the pages. Or both. Totally up to you.
Use the Gallery block to display multiple photos together. The Gallery block contains individual Image blocks for each image and arranges them in an attractive way. Thanks for all the good info! I’m not sure there will be a ton of blogging, mostly events related to the various charitable organizations we work with so maybe a little info and mostly photos. I will probably take a stab at making something and if I can’t really get it where I like it, I can discuss the custom options with the club. Is there a theme you would recommend other than the one I have that may be a better starting point? I’ve dabbled with graphic design in the past so I can put together wallpapers and colors and things to get it looking like our logo. Thanks for any help!

Hi there!
Is there a theme you would recommend other than the one I have that may be a better starting point?
As you know, themes are very much a personal preference. However, I think the theme you chose goes pretty well with the way the header image and the logo are placed. Very neatly done!
You can check out other themes at https://wordpress.com/themes – I generally recommend checking out themes that are compatible with Full Site Editor, as they are more customizable and give you the flexibility to edit nearly any part of the theme. If you’re interested, you can learn more about using the Site Editor here:
Using the Site Editor, you can design everything on your site — from the header right down to the footer — using blocks. This guide will show you around the editor. Access the Site Editor To visit the Site Editor, follow these steps: Start from your site’s dashboard. Locate Appearance on the left side. Click on Editor. If you do not see Editor here, your theme does not suppMost newer themes on our theme gallery use the Site Editor. If you want to play with one, you can create a new site for free, activate an FSE theme, and play around with it so that you can get the hang of how it works.
Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.
