Hi. I don’t know if I should keep posting my site here and the related problem. Every time I do it is mentioned and briefly responded to by one of the volunteers (appreciated) but then it gets lost in the crowd and never fully resolved.
Here is my blog address:
Here is the problem: on the categories list on the sidebar, the categories “Hockey” and “NHL teams” have an incorrect number of entries next to them. The number of posts listed is far more than the real number I have made.
What SEEMS to be happening is that when I make a post and add already existing categories to the post, these are counted as more than 1 post. For example, “Hockey” is the biggest overall parent. If I make a post and tag it with “Hockey,” “NHL teams” and “Nostalgia” (“Hockey” is the parent for both “NHL teams” and “Nostalgia”) the number next to “Hockey” increases by 3. When I signed up to wordpress this did not occur. The real number of posts was reflected regardless of how many categories there were and what they were parented under.
Currently there are 82 posts listed next to “Hockey,” yet I have only made 27 overall posts on my blog since I started it.
I appreciate any assistance.
Thank you.

2) http://neemfirst.wordpress.com/2007/09/05/hello-world/Hi,
The following problem seems to re-appear at will.
In the sidebar of categories/tags, the category “Uncategorized” is in huge, bold font. This is a new blog. The number of entries for Uncategorized is “5” when you float the mouse over that category. THE PROBLEM IS that last week this category wasn’t shown as huge font, and no new entries have been posted since then. It should look the same as before, yes? THE OTHER PROBLEM IS that it indicates 5 entries, but I went thru the ONE entry I have made and made sure that “Uncategorized” was NOT checked as a category.
I changed my default category away from “uncategorized”.Is there a way to remove a category from the list of categories available?
thanks -
@neemfirst
You can remove a category here -> Manage -> Categories
locate the category and use the “delete” button -
Hi people,
I have lost many links in my blogroll, I only have two and there should be a lot more. And I am missing a category that my sitemetre belongs too.
I have sent feedback in… just before they closed for their much needed weekend.
Just thought I would make a note of it.
Thanks

Hi,
This is my first blog and cannot add categories from the very begining.

Please help,Thanks

Unfortunately, I seem to still be having this problem. I’ll try to give all of the appropriate info.
url: http://contentdivergent.wordpress.com/
missing category url:
Example of a post with a missing category (category missing is Web Analysis –>desk crits
(in other words desk crits is supposed to be a subcategory of Web Analysis)It looks like the category id for desk crits might be
cat=1833992Adding a category at the top level is working for me, but it does not show up on the blog (but it is in the admin manage categories panel and I can assign a post to it). Adding a subcategory does not show up anywhere (admin manage categories or on the blog).
I’m using the Chaotic Soul1.2 template with no mods to the template (yet — collapsing 5 blogger accounts & migrating content first!) I’ve added 2 widgets — categories and pages. I’m using firefox 2.0.0.7. I’ve tried removing widgets and reinstalling — no difference.thanks,

Hello all,
I tried posting my Blogroll links at http:/diablogue.wordpress.com about a week ago (for the first time). Thought I posted incorrectly and went to Forums to figure it out and then learned that it may be a global issue. Currently my Blogroll links are showing on the backend list as “Visible” but they do not appear on the blog’s front end. Please advise…THANK YOU! Here are the Blogroll links:Blogwrite for CEOs – blogwriteforceos.com
Brand Autopsy – brandautopsy.typepad.com
CC-T Blog – cctblog.typepad.com
Church of the Customer Blog – churchofthecustomer.com
Duct Tape Marketing Blog – ducttapemarketing.com/blog
Hartsock Communications – nettiehartsock.com

@diablogue
The url for your blog is actually http://diablogue.wordpress.com and I can see you still have a missing blogroll. -
http://veroblog.wordpress.com
When I try to move a category to underneath another as its parent it appears on the categories page at that time, but disappears after a refresh.
It does not appear in the categories I can choose when editing a post
It does not appear in a dropdown list in my sidebar.
It does appear in category list in Live Writer
It does appear in the category cloud (if it has at least one post against it).So, where does it go?
Also if I create a brand new category as a child, I cannot add posts to it.
If I then try to create a new top-level category with the same name, it remembers the child one which was created and I am back into the first cycle of it appearing briefly but being inaccessible from anywhere else.
Because it disappear from the category list, I can’t put it back up to the top level.Right now this means anyone using the dropdown list on my site is not seeing all the categories I have.

I am able to add categories but when I associate them with a parent they are not getting shown in the manage categories window as I have been used to in the past e.g. I created categories today under the parent category “Father Ted”
