Current Sictuation with Gutenberg editor.

Clearly, after all this time, the Gutenberg is still unstable and has proven to be a less than optimal text editor.

Anyone can do just as much more efficiently with the Classic editor and I believe the majority of WordPress uses would agree.

There is no shame in adminging you made a mistake with the Gutenberg editor, WordPress. Why won’t you finally listen to reason and if not reason, to your users who want the Classic editor back.

Or are you going to continue beating this dead horse until we all move to a different blogging platform?

I have had random & constant glitches with the editor that have yet to be sorted out before I experience another one. And it has seemed to be getting worse.

I love WordPress, but in may ways, it is inexcusable to force text editing program on your users which consistently doesn’t live up to the hype

Why would anyone want to go Premium when you have such a lousy text editor? God knows I wouldn’t pay for it.

    just face it. It sucks.

    I agree.

If the mods can copy and paste their standard replies, then I can copy and paste my recurring question.

Why is classic editor being retired? Why is WordPress ignoring everyone who is asking for classic editor to come back? Why are the poor unpaid voluntary mods having to field this constantly recurring query?

Classic block editor does not work very well. It is unstable and difficult to format, plus you do not see what you get (wysiwyg).

Block editor is horrible. WordPress are not paying me to beta test their product so please don’t ask me for further details – there are so many it would take too long. However, I am paying WordPress to provide me with a product that I can work with.

Dear WordPress: We do not all want block editor. Thank you.

We’re following the direction of what the WordPress open source project is moving towards. The open source project is what works on the actual WordPress software and is worked on by many volunteer members of the WordPress community. The Block editor (also known as “Gutenberg”) is their first step in modernizing WordPress. Here’s a quote from their FAQ: https://developer.wordpress.org/block-editor/handbook/faq/

“Gutenberg” is the name of the project to create a new editor experience for WordPress — contributors have been working on it since January 2017 and it’s one of the most significant changes to WordPress in years. It’s built on the idea of using “blocks” to write and design posts and pages. This will serve as the foundation for future improvements to WordPress, including blocks as a way not just to design posts and pages, but also entire sites. The overall goal is to simplify the first-time user experience of WordPress — for those who are writing, editing, publishing, and designing web pages. The editing experience is intended to give users a better visual representation of what their post or page will look like when they hit publish.

Since the development of the WordPress software is moving in this direction, when new versions of the software is released, we update the software here at WordPress.com.

We also understand that people still use the Classic Editor, which is why it’s still available here (it’s not in the WordPress software). But, eventually newer versions of WordPress won’t be compatible with the legacy Classic Editor and that’s why we’re encouraging you to try the new Block editor which has a “Classic block” that will give you most of the same functionality that the Classic Editor has:

    – I’ve removed all your duplicate posts other than this one and the one here: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/lost-the-plot-with-this-new-block-editing/

Please provide your feedback about the classic editor to that thread. I’ll close this one for now.
