Currently No Follower Email Confirmations & No "# Followers" on Page

This week I have had several people tell me they try to follow by email but never receive the confirmation email…or subsequent posts. They have checked span folders.
Also, this week my # of followers count has not changed AND the “# followers” no longer appears on my page. I cleared the cache and checked through other browsers, but still no “# followers.”

Hi: This is the same issue I’ve been having since I started my blog last week – three requests for assistance has been made. I’ve seen some other threads that are similar to ours
Timethief also flagged my thread on 8/5/2012 but haven’t received a response from staff yet.
Is wordpress.com having a system problem with the function of enabling email followers and are not able to resolve?
Since this same issue is being identified by multiple members, would it be possible for a wordpress staff member to address or bring resolution to the email follower issue? Thanks so much –

Just to let you know, there is no problem with your blog sending out e-mail confirmations.

Hi Ardpete: Thank you for your note, you are a member of wordpress.com and I do indeed see that you have become a follower.
My specific issue has to deal with people who aren’t members of wordpress.com and coming in from another site. While they are able to register to follow by email, no email confirmation notification is being sent to them, no is my website notified that they have signed up.
It’s the folks who are not wordpress.com members where the problem lies.

Sorry I should have noted I used an e-mail that wasn’t registered to a WordPress.Com account obviously, and I received an e-mail confirmation. :)

Well now Ardpete, this could be very interesting. Thanks for the heads-up and your efforts are very much appreciated.
I’ll be getting back to the people who contacted me about the issue and see if they can re-register and see if the situation cleared up or continuees to persist.

And if you received a notification saying I’ve started following your blog using an email address that has nothing to do with WordPress, then you have no problem.
I actually wasn’t sure if my p.k.howorth e-mail address was linked to a WordPress blog, so you should have another follower from xtreme_hatred that I know for certain isn’t linked.

Thank you Ardpete both of your emails addresses were showing up and I was notified by wordpress support that I have the two requests (that I know of) pending email confirmation.
So this hopefully covers it. We’ll see once these outside folks confirm.

Thank you so much for your input. I assume you have since removed your “following” because I am unable to see any new followers added today by email. (I do have had a couple of WP followers which were added today AND a couple of email followers were added over the weekend, so perhaps something changed in the system.)I’m still unable to see the # of followers on my page, but that’s not the end of the world.

I created a new outside email and logged into my blog from another computer. I was able to signup as a follower, and also received a confirmation notification at my new email address.
The individual that has been trying to signup from around where we live, he was able to sign up, but is not receiving a confirmation notification in his email box. He’s doing it at his employer, and we have since figured out that the employer uses an outside spam service and this service has been flagging the emails as spam, thus the emails are not allowed to go to his email box.
Will find out if this is also the case w/my friend in Greece.
