Cursor jump bug on selection in Visual Editor (Windows 10, Chrome)
-
Whenever I’ve scrolled down and have something selected or have the cursor set, the screen randomly jumps to the top of the editor screen.
Whilst troubleshooting the problem I eventually established that this happened without any user input and seemingly random intervals. Ergo: I highlighted the third paragraph and did nothing. Then the page reset to the top. After scrolling back down the text was still highlighted.
I’ve restarted my laptop and the problem still occurs.
It’s already lead to some confusion during my attempts to edit my posts. I’ve tried googling and searching this forum and found nothing helpful..
Has anyone else had this problem before? :/

Same problem here in Juststopit.blog Doesn’t matter what I’m doing, it jumps back to the top. I limit my posts to 1100 words but I usually have around 1300 before I edit. No explanation. Problem started today.

It’s a relief to hear it’s not just me then. The post I’m working on is <1000 words at the moment.

Yup.
This is a problem with Chrome 61 on MacOS (High Sierra) as well (10.13.1), at least for me.

Update: I’ve updated from Chrome 61 to Chrome 62 (Chrome, About – Relaunch) and at least for the moment this behaviour is not occurring.
I’m tentative as I’ve seen such UI glitches return after relaunching the page or the browser, but I’m more interested in getting my article finished before mucking about. Just figured anyone else who sees this might try updating and see if it helps.

Hi all,
Let me know if the solution @paranoidmike suggested hasn’t worked for everyone so I can have a look.
Thanks!

I’m sure my problem is related to this, and it is driving me crazy.
I’m using IE 11 on Win 7.
When inserting a picture WP jumps to the top of the editor screen and inserts it there. Then the picture is stuck in that position and cannot be moved to the correct position.A second problem is that any html code pasted into the editor becomes gobly-gook.
A line of code that looks like this:
alt=”Buy Now” title=”Buy Now with PayFast”></td></tr></table>is pasted as:
alt=”Buy Now” title=”Buy Now with PayFast”></td></tr></table>Any idea what causes this, and how to get around it?

Sorry, the gobly-gook code looks like this:
alt=”Buy Now” title=”Buy Now with PayFast”></td></tr></table>

Hi Joh,
I suggest trying a more modern web browser, like Chrome, Firefox, and Opera that support all the latest web technologies used on WordPress.com.
Internet Explorer is no longer updated with new features (receives only security updates) and that may cause all those issues in the editor.
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Hi fstat
the jumping cursor seems to have been resolved and inserting pictures is working normally again.re the gobly-gook pasted code: I’ve started a new topic about that with the title of:
html code pasted into editor get scrambled
There I provided a link to a pdf document on jy site which shows an example of the issue.. I’ll appreciate it if you could have a look and revert.
Thanks
