Cursor keeps jumping

A consistent problem I have been having with WordPress is that it never wants to put the cursor where I put it. It tends to scroll up way beyond where I put the cursor. in a long document, often 2-3 screens higher. What’s the point of that? Does it think it knows better than me where my text belongs?

That seems to be one of a number of things going on with the document I was complaining about here and never got a satisfactory answer: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/annoying-automation/

I’ve been on Facebook since 2011, and this is a comparatively new problem–another reason why I want you to bring back the old editor. The new one is too buggy.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • @scottandrewhutchins I remember testing that. You had mentioned other pages are okay, just not these very long inventories, so I believe the issue is likely the size of the pages. The inventory you mentioned is literally 144 pages long if I were to print it.

With most programs closed and a laptop that is ~2 years old, I don’t have any issue opening in the code editor here in Chrome on a mac. Nothing jumps around, so it’s possible maybe a different browser might handle the code better? Or, you could make sure other programs are closed so your system has plenty of ram.

    You had mentioned last time:

Whoever programs this is really not thinking much about the end user.

Some phones may not be able to load up a webpage that large, and older computers might struggle, too. Dividing that into separate pages would be easier on you for editing, and easier for your readers to view the inventories on their devices.

  • I’ve been checking in for feedback on this, by the way; try using the link I included above to see whether that behaves any better for you, then update us here to let us know.
