CurtisClan Blog

I am attempting to set up a blog.
When I set it up, word press indicated that I needed a host, so I went with BlueHost on that advice.
    ‘Dion,

Congratulations! Your new domain curtisclan-ourdash.org has been registered with Bluehost.’

But now WordPress is indicating ‘Transfer your domain away from your current provider to WordPress.com so you can update settings, renew your domain, and more – right in your dashboard.’ Price of $24p.a.
I have already signed up with BlueHost to pay $5.95 per month for 36 months.
I am now really confused and advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Dion

  • Hi Dion,

it looks like you’re confusing WordPress.com and WordPress.org, that happens all the time :)

To clear up any further confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.

We, WordPress.com are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites whereas WordPress.org is a stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.

You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this support page:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

That said, if you’re hosting your site on Bluehost, you do not need a WordPress.com site. If you’d like to connect your Bluehost site to your WordPress.com account, you’ll want to install the plugin Jetpack:
