Custom ad space
-
i am using a theme that is mostly based on Twenty ten and i need to add a custom ad space to the left side in the space over the background i can get it to display but it pushes the menu down the length of the ad space i just want to float it over the left side and leave the rest of the content intact it will display by using
<div style="display:block;float:left;z-index:0;><img src='http://url/img.jpg' width='145' height='700'></div>but if i add that same info to style.css it won’t display use css like this#leftad {
display:block;
float:left;
height:145;
width:700;
z-index:0;
}
any help would be awesome

You cannot sell ad space on your blog or post advertising. See http://support.wordpress.com/advertising/
You can sell your own hand-crafted items through Etsy.
If you’re not sure of the difference, please contact support at http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ with a specific example of what you’d like to post and someone will review it for you.

If you have an Etsy shop for selling your own handcrafted items, you can display clickable thumbnails of items from your shop (or your favorites) in your sidebar on your free hosted WordPress.com blog. Please see here > Adding an Etsy widget -
That seems a little unfair you can’t accept advertisements. Like I know it’s WP but people spend lots of time building up blogs, nothing wrong with wanting to earn a little cash from it.

There is a program for high traffic blogs with suitable content and it’s called WordAds. It will replace the Ad-Control program.

If you want ads, you can always self-host a wordpress installation on a third-party hosting service such as bluehost, dreamhost, etc. Figure an average overall monthly cost of $10 to $25, all things considered, and the vast majority of bloggers don’t even cover their hosting costs with their ad revenue.
And given the increasing number of people that are downloading and installing ad blocking plugins in their browsers, a good percentage of visitors will never even see your ads. I’ve had adblock installed in Firefox and Safari for years and if I ever do see an annoying ad, I just right click on it and zap it, never to see it again. Adblock Plus for Firefox has been downloaded over 149 million times, and over 3 million times in the last 30 days.
just sayin’
