Custom colors aren’t applying to the site

Hi. I have used the customizer to pick colors that work best for my site, and whenever I’m in edit mode the backgrounds & colors look exactly how I want them to. But no matter how many times I save, or update, or publish – the colors on the actual site show the default colors. I don’t understand why.

I have screen shots, though it doesn’t look like I can upload them here. Please someone help me figure out why even though the editing pages show me how I want my site to look, those colors aren’t appearing on the actual site – even though I save and update all the time.

Also, is there a place/way for me to directing edit the HTML? (without purchasing a plan??)

I feel like this is a technical issue, as everything I have done is exactly like is shown in the video on the https://wordpress.com/support/themes/custom-backgrounds/ page. Again, everything looks correct when I’m in the editing view. And I’ve even changed layouts, and the new layout will appear on the actual site. But the colors that I change the background to, do not appear on the actual site. Instead the default colors appear.

I literally can’t find anything anywhere to contact anyone for technical support, unless I sign up for a paid account. Is that truly the only way to get technical support?? Please someone help me. :(

  • Hi there,

Can you tell us the URL of the site you need help with?

Are you referring to custom colors selected in the Customizer, or colors applied to individual blocks of text in the post/page editor?

    The URL is http://www.irebelsdreamlog.wordpress.com

And I’m talking about the colors selected in the customizer. I have screen shots I can share, but it doesn’t look like I can post those here.

So for example, when you go to look at the site on the front page, the area behind “Welcome to to my Dreams” shows up as green. However, when in the customizer it shows up as the color that I have selected, which is #e2a1a1. This should also be the link color. Text color should be #6d0000, but instead the text color is brown when you actually view the site.

Again – everything looks exactly like I want it to in edit mode. But in preview, or typing in the address myself, it just shows the default colors of the theme.

Is there any update? Even trying to adjust the colors in block editor doesn’t work. It will appear to work – everything will look as it should in edit mode. But after I “update” and then preview the site, the colors are still the default colors. :(

  • Hey @irebel1544, I can see the site you linked is deleted. Sorry we’ve got a bit heavier volume here with the holidays.

Would you like use to un-delete the site for you and take a look? It’s possibly a caching issue.
