Custom CSS in Vigilance theme
-
Hi,
I have the custom CSS upgrade and just switched over to the Vigilance 1.22 theme. When I go to custom CSS edit page and view original stylesheet, it contains very little info and says at the bottom:
“Make all custom CSS changes in a Child Theme. See this tutorial for instructions:
—-> http://themes.jestro.com/vigilance/easy-upgrading-wordpress-child-themes/ <—-
Any custom changes you make here will be overidden when you upgrade the theme.”…. which is confusing because that link leads to instructions that are quite clearly for wordpress.org users.
So my question is: can I make custom CSS changes to Vigilance? If so, do I do it in the usual custom css box?
Also, where can I find the original stylesheet for this theme?
(I searched the forums for this topic but no one gave a solid answer to these questions.)
Thanks in advance!

Ok, I have found a few threads about this issue, and the original stylesheet here: http://s3.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/pub/vigilance/css/master.css?20090324
I suppose all I really want now is a copy of that stylesheet that ISN’T all jumbled up, with proper spacing! If anyone has such a copy, pleeeease let me know. You would be saving me a lot of time.
Thanks!

Have you read this post?
The common mistake 98% of people, who have the CSS upgrade, make when modifying a theme is to paste the WHOLE theme’s CSS code in the CSS Editor. DO NOT DO THAT! ….

Yes I have, thanks!
Just wondering if anyone has a nice clean version of the original Vigilance stylesheet that I can go off of… thanks.

Perhaps I’m wrong because I’m no CSS whizz but it seems to me that if you want to see the theme’s default css, the easy way to do it would be to view the HTML source of the blog and get the address of the css stylesheet from the
<link rel="stylesheet" href = "location of the css file"> -
yeah, that only brings you back to the messy code.
However I just fixed it all with http://www.cleancss.com/
Thanks for your help!

FYI: I recommend using Firefox’s plug-in “Firebug”. It’s a CSS editor that changes/edits your CSS on a live page. Simply tweak it to your liking, then copy/paste to your CSS page on your dashboard. Done. I was completely LOST when I originally bought the CSS Upgrade, but now I’m whizzing right through my customizations. Take a look see: http://imaprile.com
Good Luck!
