Custom css is entirely ignored on my blogs

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I am using cusom css on two of my blogs and when I am in the “customize” area the css modifications appear in the right way. When I look at my blogs from another browser (where I’m not signed in), it seems to me that the custom css is not used at all. This behavior is something that appeared recently – the years before I had never a problem with that and yes, I have cleared my browser cache. The two blogs I refer to are http://usblogdotnet.wordpress.com and http://lighlay.wordpress.com.
    Best regards, Ulf.

    Hi Ulf,

I just took a look at both of your blogs, and the custom CSS is working for me on both blogs while logged in and logged out of WordPress.com. Can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service such as Snaggy. That will help me understand what you are seeing so I can try to help resolve this for you.

Hi Rachel, many thanks for your fast response. Here is what I see when I am not in customizing mode: http://snag.gy/RgVj3.jpg

When I’m in customizing mode, I see the web page as I would expect it:

I think, now I have some idea what happens. For the last days I was using a german Telekom mobile phone to connect my laptop with the internet. This connecting device somehow leads to a suppression of the customized css (it does not appear in the html code of the web site). When I am using a WLAN connection, the problem does not occur. Maybe you can investigate why the css is being suppressed when connecting with a mobile device?

Hi Ulf, I have been testing this to try to reproduce the problem you are experiencing, but I have not been able to.

Perhaps you can provide a little more information to help me research this problem:

    * What kind of mobile phone are you using to connect your laptop with the internet?
    * Can you copy the HTML code you see on your site while connected via your mobile phone? You can paste it into a draft or private post on your blog and I can take a look at it there. This will help me understand what information is being sent to your laptop.

    Thanks!

Hi Rachel, I have created a draft titled “iPhone5” and copied the html that is used for the broken page.
I am using an iPhone 5 from German Telekom.
    Best regards, Ulf.

    Hi Ulf,

We tested this and were unable to reproduce it while tethering on another network, so it looks like this may be an issue with how your network provider loads your site while you are tethered. Unfortunately, it looks like there isn’t much more we can do in this case — you may want to contact your network provider for more assistance with this. I’m sorry I couldn’t help more in this case!

Hi Rachel, many thanks for your efforts and your feedback. As the problem only occurs under very special conditions I will leave it for now like it is.
