Custom CSS Preview is Broken

  • Unknown's avatar

I posted this to the Support forum last week but have not received a response. Thought I’d see if anyone in CSS Customization could help.

I am unable to preview custom CSS on one of my blogs. This is what my custom CSS preview looks like – http://d.pr/i/4yXW

The theme looks fine on the live blog. I have verified that both the Custom Design upgrade is active and third-party cookies enabled. I’ve tried switching themes and resetting the CSS to the theme defaults. Only one of my blogs is affected – I have another WordPress.com blog that previews as expected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for including a screenshot. I will see what I can find out about this.

I wasn’t able to reproduce what you’ve described on a test blog, but I can see it happening on your blog. That indicates it’s not a widespread problem, and now we just need to try to narrow down possible causes for this happening on your blog but not on other blogs. I tried a few things to see if I could figure out if a setting or option is triggering the behavior such as setting my test blog to use Twenty Eleven and selecting the one column layout on the theme options page. I haven’t found what’s causing the trouble yet, but I’m still working on it.

This was a hard to find bug! It was happening for anyone who had purchased Custom CSS before the change to Custom Design (June 2011) and who also had their mode set to “Replace” in the CSS Settings. Our developers found the cause and fixed the issue for all blogs that were affected. You should see your CSS Previews working normally now.

    Thanks again for the report!

    Glad I’m not crazy. ;)

Thanks so much for helping out. CSS Preview is working great again on that blog. :)
