Custom Design

  Hi smart bloggers!
  I am new to wordpress, and blogging in general, and would love if someone could point me in the right direction, or to an existing thread.

  I would like to create a custom blog design that could incorporate some (hopefully all) of the following features:
  >Custom header
  >Custom category headers
  >Embedded .mov files
  >Image carousel/picture gallery

  Likewise, if it seems easier as a newbie to the blogging to start with a template that is customizable, I most want to be able to customize the headers and column/category headers.

  My goal is to have the final template I design be more easily “updatable” than my current portfolio website. I am familiar enough with html and css to be able to do handcoding, etc.

  Any thoughts? I’d really appreciate your direction

  You cannot create a theme as you are describing here at WordPress.com. It can be done using an independent install of WordPress, but we don’t support that here. Support for that is at WordPress.ORG.
