I’m away when my custom design comes up for renewal but I’m away. Will anything change with my blog if I don’t pay my custom design until I get back? Or what will happen to m blog if I just pay it once I return?

Hello there, Single upgrades like Custom Design were phased out in favor of upgrade plans. If you have the grandfathered Custom Design single upgrade, if you don’t keep up the payment then the upgrade is removed and you’ll likely need to switch to either the Premium or Business plan upgrade on your return.
If you don’t have autorenew enabled in your Manage Purchases dashboard, you could also renew that upgrade before you go. This shouldn’t affect the duration of your upgrade. Just to be certain, I’ve flagged this thread for Staff input. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

It looks like you have automatic renewal enabled on that upgrade. Just make sure that we have the correct credit card on file – you can check that on the Purchases page:

However, automatic renewal does sometimes fail, even if the card is valid, if the bank blocks it on their end for some reason. We will send you an email if that happens, but it sounds like you won’t be around to see it.
So if you want to be absolutely sure it renews, you can also just renew it manually from the Purchases page right away. Then it will be good for another year.
If autorenew does fail, and the upgrade does expire, it will be removed from your account after a short grace period, which will also cause all the actual customizations to disappear form your site. Then you’ll need a plan in order to add it back, as @justjennifer indicated above. So I’d recommend you just go ahead and renew it manually to make sure that doesn’t happen.
