Custom Design: Hide and Show a Div Code

In my recipe section, I want to be able to have the recipe. Within the recipe, there will be a few words that have hyperlinks to them. WordPress already lets you create hyperlinks, but they direct you to another page. What I would like to try to figure out, is that when you click on the hyperlink, the page doesn’t change, but rather a popup appears with a small amount of content or a short video. They once you are finished reading it or viewing the video, you can close it and continue on with the recipe. I don’t want it to be a pop up because that might get blocked depending on your browser, more like showing hidden text or a hidden video that relates to the recipe.

I found an example here but I tried to implement the code on my site and it didn’t work.

We cannot use JavaScript on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. The software strips it out to provide security and stability as this is a mutiuser blogging platform.

Also note that CSS editing cannot be used to change functionality. It can only be used to change appearance. All blogs wearing the same theme here are using the same template. We cannot access and edit the files; only Staff can, as every edit affects all blogs wearing the same theme.

What you are wanting to do cannot be done here. You can have links open in new windows/tabs, but you cannot do the popup things.
