Custom Design upgrade has stopped working
-
We use the legacy Custom Design upgrade, which auto-renewed a few days ago, but our custom CSS has just stopped working. When I go to Appearance > Additional CSS it says “Purchase a Premium Plan to activate CSS customization”. We should get this as part of our annual payment for Custom Design.

Hi there!
It looks like you actually let that subscription expire, that’s why it’s not available on your site.
Since you have been using it for many years, we might still be able to add it back to your account so you can renew it. However, seeing that you’re also paying for a domain mapping, and you purchased a premium theme, you may want to consider upgrading to plan Premium and have all those perks included in your plan, together with many other features, for instance:
- Access to additional storage space for all your media and content.
- Immediate approval to our WordAds program allowing you to earn income from the ads displayed on your site.
- Or, removing any ads from your site, if you’re not interested in displaying them.
- VideoPress support allowing you to host videos directly on your site without having to use an outside service like Youtube or Vimeo.
Let us know how you’d like to proceed.

Hi, thanks for explaining.
We’d like to add the custom design upgrade back in and renew that, please.
The emails saying the payment failed look a lot like the emails we normally get saying they were successful, so we didn’t notice this hadn’t been renewed. -
Alright, I have just added the subscription back to your account, so you should be able to renew it from https://wordpress.com/me/purchases.
I hope that helps :)
