Custom design vs. premium theme

  If I get a premium theme, do I have to renew it every year or do I pay for it only once? Also, am I entitled to other themes once I pay for one and move between both premium and free themes or just the one premium theme I purchased?

  What is the difference between custom design and premium theme?

  When you buy a premium theme, you keep it and don’t have to renew. Once you have one, you can switch between that and any free theme. If you want a different premium one, you have to buy it.

  Custom design lets you change the appearance of a non-premium theme. When you buy a premium theme, I believe Custom Design is included. I may be wrong about that.

  If you buy a premium theme can you put it on a self hosted site as well?

  No. Some of the themes here have versions available for WordPress.org, but that’s a separate purchase. You can’t transfer a WP.com theme to a WP.org site.

  Okay, thanks for that, so I don’t think I will purchase one then. I might do an one for my website.

  How can I find out if custom design definitely comes with a premium theme?
