custom design won't work on WP

We are terribly frustrated, I hope you can help. For two weeks a programmer and I have worked on our blog. He finally got the perfect design just as I wanted it but when he went to put it on WP it would not accept it. Really, what I want is way simple and clean, but I don’t even know where to start, if there is a template that would work easily with my design or if there is another option at WP could you please help me find it? We have been working very very hard for days without the reward of getting our blog up. If there is someway I can send you the .tiff or .jpg of the design so you can see what we’re shooting for, would you please let me know? Thank you so very, very much. Clare
