  What are the costs associated with transferring the domain to WordPress vs domain mapping?

  Transferring or mapping/connecting your domain to a site here requires a paid plan. Mapping would mean you also continue to pay whoever you registered your domain with. Transferring would mean that going forward you would pay WordPress.com annually for both plan and the cost of renewing the domain.
