  I want to buy a wordpress custom domain and along with it mapping do wordpress do a 301 redirect? Will i lose my traffic if i move to custom domain?

  Domain mapping uses a 302 redirect, which is different from the 301 redirect.

  Any major changes to your site might cause a change in traffic and we cannot guarantee how the custom domain will affect your page hits. That said, links from your current URL that appear in search results will redirect to your custom domain.

  If you do decide to purchase a custom domain, I’d also recommend setting up Google Webmaster Tools with your site so you can get additional information from Google:
