Custom domain DNS problem
-
When I type “www.retiredgeek.net” into a browser, it resolves to “retiredgeek.net”. I want it to resolve to the full URL “with” the “www”.
I didn’t see an option for this when I setup my custom domain to point to WordPress, but my domain host says the issues lies with WordPress…not them.
Anyone know where I need to go on WordPress to correct this? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is nothing that needs correction.
We actually strip out the www. for your convenience, and http://www.writerintheforest.com/ will always redirect to http://writerintheforest.com/
www is an old protocol from back when everything was under separate server hardware. www (www.example.com) was the web server, mail (mail.example.com) was the mail server, ftp (ftp.example.com) was the FTP server, print (print.example.com) was the print server, etc.
These days, everything is run under the web server, making www. redundant and a waste of four characters. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/did-i-pay-twice?replies=6#post-1052187

@timethief: while I certainly realize the technical side of this (I’ve been in the computing industry since 1987)…I was just hoping it was a user-configurable DNS option on WordPress. I now understand it is not, and I’m fine with that, but had it been…I would have prefered the older protocol.
Thanks again for being so super-responsive!
