Custom Domain Help

  About a month ago I registered a custom domain (www.whatgracedid.com) through WordPress, however I decided to self host instead so I contacted WordPress and asked to cancel my subscription to WordPress premium and cancel the custom domain. I was told I’d be able to re-register the custom domain elsewhere in about a week, however, I’ve tried doing so and the custom domain is now unavailable. Are you able to help me with this at all?

  Hi there,

  whatgracedid.com was purchased on May 29th, 2017 by someone and is currently active now although I’m not sure if you are the owner of it. If you are not the owner of it, unfortunately you can never get it back unless it will be expired and will be released for sale.

  How would I know whether or not I am the owner of it? I’m confused!

  When I go to whatgracedid.com it sends me to go daddy.

  The register of whatgracedid.com is GoDaddy. If you own this domain, you should have the account of GoDaddy and can manage the domain through the account. Do you remember that you registered the domain through GoDaddy recently? If not, you might not be the owner of the domain.

  Hi there,

  That domain was released by us a few days after you requested to cancel it. If you didn’t buy it after it was released, it means someone else has bought it and you’ll not be able to use it.

  You should only ever cancel a domain if you don’t want to use it at all any more.
