Custom domain not mapping to blog
-
It’s been about 24 hours since I changed my nameservers to WordPress, but I’m still getting an error that the nameservers are not mapped. I checked Who.is, and based on that report it looks like the nameserver information has been updated. Can someone help?
Who.is record for the domain:
http://who.is/dns/thecodingmant.isThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/?host=thecodingmant.is
Your current name server records are listed as
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM.thecodingmant.is
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM.thecodingmant.is
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM.thecodingmant.isGo to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMLet me know if you have any questions!

Oh my goodness I didn’t even notice it had done that! Apparently if I don’t end the name server with a period (e.g. “NS1.WORDPRESS.COM.” instead of “NS1.WORDPRESS.COM”, which is what I had entered) it will automatically append the domain name. Sheesh.
Thank you so much!

Good catch. Don’t hesitate to contact your domain registrar to help you set the name server records if necessary.
Cheers.

I just wanted to follow-up with this. It looks like my name servers are now listed correctly at:
http://who.is/dns/thecodingmant.isBut not at:
http://www.whois.net/whois/thecodingmant.isDoes anyone know why this is/what else I can do so the domain maps to my blog properly?
Thank you!

There is – I just removed it. I will follow-up again once that appears to have synced.
Thank you :)

Update: Now when I try to access the domain instead of the usual “under construction” default page I’m used to seeing, it gives a 404 error.
…is that expected? Did the A record need to be deleted or modified? (I deleted it…)
Thank you!

I still see the A record on your domain, it points to 178.248.17.7.
Normally it can take up to 48-72 hours before DNS changes are fully propagated. However, I also suggest to contact your domain registrar to make sure the A record has been correctly deleted.

I’m reaching out to them, but have yet to hear back (they aren’t the most responsive). Thank you for your responses/patience :)

I just heard back and now the name servers have been successfully changed. Per the instructions I received from the domain host, I set it up to Redelegate Domain rather than using Webforwarding. Right now when I use:
thecodingmant.isIt redirects to:
thecodingmantis.wordpress.comI’d rather use thecodingmant.is as the actual blog address instead of fowarding it to the WordPress domain. I tried setting the thecodingmant.is to the primary domain by going to my Dashboard -> My Domains, but when I did that I received an error page that stated the site was “stuck in a loop” (so I changed thecodingmantis.wordpress.com back to the primary address).
Do you know how I can use thecodingmant.is as the actual blog address?
-
The primary address is http://thecodingmant.is/ now. If you don’t see this change yet then please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below:

Thank you! I had tried changing it previously, but when I navigated to the page I received a “Webpage in redirect loop” error. I forced a refresh after I saw you made the change and it looks like it’s fine now.
Thank you SO much!
