Custom domain not working
-
When signing up, I chose the option for a custom domain name “virtutravel.com” (the $18 option), but my page was automatically turned into virtutravel.wordpress.com. Now I’m trying to modify that, and I’m being told that virtutravel.com is already registered. How can I fix this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

virtutravel.com is hosted by Amazon.com
whois
Name Servers:
ns1.namebrightdns.com
ns2.namebrightdns.comThere is no domain mapping upgrade for virtutravel.com. If you own that domain URL and would like to use the domain to amp to from your wordpress.com blog at http://virtutravel.wordpress.com/ you will first need to set up domain mapping.

Thanks for you response, Timethief. Does that mean that Amazon already owns that domain, and therefore I can’t use it?
Is there any way to buy a domain from Amazon?
-
The domain is already owned and you cannot buy it. You have to purchase a different one.

Also, when I type virtutravel.com, nothing appears! I’m told it’s an available domain name by a company called Huge Domains (willing to sell it to me for $2,295…)

You’re welcome.
Your content stays exactly where it is. All that changes is the URLs and your visitors are seamlessly redirected from the original .wordpress.com URLs to the same content under the new domain URLs.
Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading
All About Domains http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/all-about-domains/In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades to purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog. See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
After you do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
