Custom domain settings not working
-
I have purchased my domain http://www.enjoytechnicalwriting.com from WordPress and I had defined custom domain settings for the site that is hosted at 1and1.com.
Now, I have moved the site to hostgator and for that, I need to update the custom domain settings (I followed http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domains-settings/#custom-dns, and I know the steps because I did it in the past also).
However, I updated the settings 3 days back but these are not updated as the site still points to old server (at 1and1). Can you please help?
Regards
-Vinish

Howdy,
Your nameservers are still set to ns51.1and1.com and ns52.1and1.com. Your nameservers are where your DNS records live, so WordPress.com’s Custom DNS records aren’t being used.
You’ll likely need to change these to the nameservers given to you by Hostgator, then you’ll be able to use Hostgator’s DNS settings to make any additional changes.
To change the nameservers, please follow the instructions at Change Name Servers. You can reach your account’s Dashboard at http://enjoytechnicalwriting.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
If you run into any trouble and need additional assistance, please let me know what the correct nameserver values should be used and I’ll give an extra hand.
Cheers!
