Custom domain SSL intermittently failing – ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

  Hello Support Team,

  I’m having an SSL issue with my custom domain checklyst.xyz connected to my WordPress.com site.

  Current state:

  • DNS is correctly configured at Namecheap using Namecheap BasicDNS
  • A records:
    • 192.0.78.24
    • 192.0.78.25
  • CNAME:
    • www → checklyst.xyz
  • Domain shows Connected and SSL: Active in the WordPress.com dashboard

  Problem:

  • HTTPS intermittently worked earlier (including in Incognito)
  • https://www.checklyst.xyz briefly worked, then stopped
  • Both https://checklyst.xyz and https://www.checklyst.xyz now return
    ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR across browsers (Chrome, Edge)
  • This behavior started after DNS and nameserver changes were completed and stabilized

  This appears to be an edge SSL provisioning / sync issue, not a DNS issue.

  Request:
  Please force SSL re-provisioning and edge cache refresh for both:

  • checklyst.xyz (apex/root)
  • www.checklyst.xyz

  DNS is already correct and stable; I have stopped making changes.
