Custom domain through Gravatar
-
Hello,
So, I created a profile on Gravatar, and in the profile creation process, it said I can get a custom domain for free for the 1st year. However, when I went to check out the domain, it charged me $13.
The support team said that the custom domain is only available for free if you have an annual paid plan or a paid hosting plan.
Please help me understand why Gravatar said I can get a custom WordPress domain for free, but then I was charged for the same by WordPress.
Please feel free to ask any questions for more clarification.
Thank you for your support.

I understand you wanted clarification on why you were charged $13 when Gravatar said you can get a custom WordPress domain for free.
We’d want to inform you that the domains that are free for one year only support the following TLDs:
- .bio
- .contact
- .cool
- .fyi
- .guru
- .info
- .life
- .link
- .live
- .ninja
- .place
- .pro
- .rocks
- .social
- .world
You were charged with $13 because you purchased almeechristian.com which has a .com Top-Level Domain.
Please check this article to learn more about this – About Domains for Gravatar.
I hope that helps.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for the clarification. That makes sense.
I wanted to ask if it is possible to change the TLD now, after the purchase, to one of the eligible free one-year domain options you listed. If that is supported, would the free one-year benefit apply, and would there be any adjustment or credit for the amount already charged for the .com domain?
Please let me know if this is possible, or if there are any limitations I should be aware of.
Thanks again for your help.
