Custom domains and deleting your website
-
Hi there,
Yesterday I created a new blog via wordpress.com – thejonandpiaway.wordpress.com. Shortly after, I mapped a custom domain for use on this blog (doingdiy.com).
After realising that what I actually wanted was a self-hosted, wordpress.org setup, I confirmed and deleted the website ‘thejonandpiaway.wordpress.com’.
I’ve set up a new site via GoDaddy’s WordPress install – selecting ‘doingdiy.com’ as the domain for the site – but now when I visit ‘doingdiy.com’ it still shows the message from WordPress.com:
thejonandpiaway.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.
How do I permanently remove the association between the deleted WordPress.com blog and the custom domain? Is this a setting I need to change in GoDaddy, or a bug in the site-deletion flow?
Thanks!

This also means that I can’t access to the WordPress login for doingdiy.com (doingdiy.com/wp-admin). Which is obviously super frustrating.
