custom excerpts feature

  I want to use the “custom excerpt feature” in several long pages. I want to give the reader a paragraph to read and then many more paragraphs if they click on the button.

  Should I do this through the “page excerpt” plugin? Or through editing the functions file?

  What you are asking to use the excerpt function for cannot be done. A front page excerpt is a single excerpt only. See all the ways to split content here http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/

  There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

  If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database.
