Custom Fonts – few recognizable choices, how do they work
-
I would like to understand two things.
First, why, even with a premium account, are there none of the most commonly used fonts available – Times New Roman or Arial (or any number of others) for example.
Second, when we use one of the various unusual fonts available, what happens when a typical user loads the page. Does it have the unusual font attached or linked somehow or does it just revert to something else, and if so what something else.
If it is relevant I am using twenty ten
(I think this is more a support issue than a theme issue since it is common to all themes).
Thanks for your help
Andrew

Hi @andrewhallnz, we use webfonts. When a user loads the page the font loads with it.
Since you have Premium, if you’d like to use Times / Arial / etc, you can specify those in your CSS file, along with fallback font specification in case the user does not have the popular font you’re thinking of. Let us know if you need help with that.
