Custom Header Gone. How to get it back?
-
I bought CSS Upgrade and played around with a thing or two, then went back to Contempt (my previous theme). Along with the theme, was a custom header of two flip-flops, although upon returning to the Contempt theme, the header has disappeared. I went to the right place to re-upload it, save changes, etc….the image shows under ‘Custom Header’ page just not on my blog. Ideas? Thanks

The problem is that when you modify the CSS, you have to provide the absolute path to your header image, not the relative path.

hmm, a little over my head. I assumed that when I went to the original WP themes and selected one even after buying the CSS upgrade and playing around with it, that I’d be able to restore the theme (and header). The theme is back and didn’t take long to fix…but the header, no matter what I’ve been trying to do to fix it….is still MIA

You will have to put it in the proper place in your CSS. Once you tweak the CSS, you always have to do that. Upload the photo as if it were going in a blog post, then take the URL and put it in the correct spot in your header CSS.

But singularcontiguity is right: it could just be the header error from yesterday resurfacing. Try again today using the regular uploader and see if that helps. BUT retitle the image before trying to reupload. WP.com hates it when you upload an image with the same title, and it never works.

so in the CSS there’s a url for that image? I’ll upload it via flickr then as going through WP isn’t working. Funny thing is, I have two blogs, one in Portuguese, other in English but their CSS is the same…yet one shows my header and the other doesnt. So yeah, I’ll try uploading it another way. Thanks

Try the regular uploader with a new title on the image first. Then if that doesn’t work, put it in your header CSS.
