Custom Header in Sketch Theme
-
I’m trying to add a custom header on my page. I’m using the sketch theme. I have a header uploaded from the customize>header but it doesn’t show up. I went through the directions because I’d like it to look like the demo ( http://sketchdemo.wordpress.com )
So I created a page and gave it the portfolio page template and made this my home page (have front page display set as static) …then I created 2 projects and gave them the same tags I added under customize>featured content. So how do I get a header at the top?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The Sketch theme doesn’t actually display the custom header on the portfolio page. (You’ll see the custom header on other pages, though, like your Contact Me page.)
Instead, the portfolio page shows featured content at the top of the page. You can read more about featured content and other theme features on the Sketch theme page, but here’s an overview of how to get that featured content area to appear:
- Navigate to Appearance → Customize → Featured Content.
- Enter the name of a tag.
- Click the blue “Save” button at the bottom.
- Create a post, page, or portfolio item with a Featured Image.
- Give the post the tag you declared under Appearance → Customize → Featured Content.
In addition, the images for the featured content area need to be at least 1092 pixels wide to show up there. I checked the featured image on your Woolrich project, and it’s only 350 × 263 pixels. Uploading a wider image will make it appear in the featured content area.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
