Hi, I’m using the Mistylook theme. I’ve uploaded a custom photo for the header. The upload process went OK, I recieved the message that it was successful and when I visit the page the stock drawing will be replaced with my photo. WRONG! Can anyone help me figure out what’s wrong?

We’ll need a link to your blog.
But also, it might be worth just logging out, clearing your browser’s cache and cookies, then checking again. Could be that you’re seeing an older version of the page.

If this posts twice, please excuse. My earlier response seems to have gotten lost. My site is

Did you resize your picture before uploading? Sometimes (often) the cropping function screws things up. Try resizing it to the exact dimensions of the header and uploading again.
-
Have you purchased the CSS upgrade? That messes up one’s ability to use the regular custom uploader.
-
Sometimes changing the value of the header will help.
If your code says says Header size 740px;
Try to change it to 100%;
This way, no matter what size the jpeg you loaded will stretch the full width of your page. -

Hey rosclarke,
I went back and redid the whole process again and it worked! I guess the third time is a charm. Thanks for your help.

I’m having this problem now. I’ve cleared everything out like suggested & rebooted & am still getting the stock image. I haven’t purchased any upgrades. http://bundleocontradictions.wordpress.com

First off, IE6 is quite old as far as browsers go and the web is quickly passing it by. My suggestion, if you can, is to upgrade to either IE7 or to Firefox 3. They are modern and up to date and typically have no issues with wordpress.
My suggestion is to crop and size your image to the exact size for your theme prior to uploading it. There have been some issues lately with the wordpress cropping feature and when people size and crop their images before uploading them, they don’t have the issues. The MistyLook header is 760px x 189px.
Also, make sure that the file name has only numbers and letters in it. No special characters or anything like punctuation. Also make sure it is one of the supported file types (jpg, gif or png) and make sure that the file name includes the file type extension ( .jpg .gif or .png ).

Well, right now I can only access the ‘net from work so I’m stuck with what the company has to offer.
I’ve tried altering the image & renaming it as you suggested & it’s still not working…? -
At this point I am out of suggestions other than contacting support directly. http://support.wordpress.com/contact/
