Custom Header issues

I am using Theme twenty eleven which I like a lot with one major problem. I uploaded a custom header (from my pictures) that came out completely black. I have other pictures and want to do a “random select” of all uploaded pictures for my blog. the “random select” works, but the delete a header doesn’t. The header page seems to include the option to choose a picture and delete it. Doesn’t work. What am I doing wrong?

  • I’m not sure why the original upload didn’t work. Perhaps there’s a problem with the source file?

Can you normally upload any other header?

As for the image, it can be permanently deleted via the Media section of your blog’s Dashboard.

Thanks for the help deleting a header. To answer your question about problems uploading other pics to header, the answer is “yes” I have a lot of trouble uploading pictures. Some won’t upload at all (as in timing out) while I get a message with some others saying the pic can’t be processed. Lots of time and frustrating. Otherwise, the theme is good for what I use it for.

  • It sounds like your image files may be way too large. Does your image editor have a Save or Export for Web option?

If so, give that a shot and try exporting it as a .jpg

Remember, that visitors need to download the image whenever they view your site, so try to find a good balance between quality and file size.
