Custom header problem
-
Hello there!
I am trying to upload a custom header. It uploads correctly (according to what shows up on screen) and leads me to the cropping screen. I don’t see anything on this page for me to crop! And then I just get a black image instead of my header.I have tried with different themes that allow custom header and I have tried using Firefox as well as Explorer. None works.
Does anyone know where the problem could be?Thanks a lot!

Try resizing your header to the exact size that your theme requires before uploading it, that way you can complete skip the cropping screen.
And it would help if you could link your username to your WordPress.COM blog. The instructions are at the top of this forum.

I had the same problem and noticed that my original image was too big by 1 px in the width dimension. As suggested above, if you resize to exactly the dimensions specified, you don’t have to crop and your problem will be solved. It worked for me!

I’m having the same issues, but have created my images to the exact size indicated by the theme. I’ve tried changing themes/sizes, etc., but to no avail…is this just a WordPress glitch??

@socialgood: Do you have a wp.com blog? If yes, give us a link to it. If not, you’re in the wrong forum!

I am having the same problem as well. I have a wp.com blog, with the ambiru design. I have the custom css as well. I uploaded my header to the exact dimesions and it appears it comes up in as it has loaded properly, but when I go to my sight it isn’t there. Any help would be great. http://www.calliecrassphotoblog.com

If you have the custom CSS, then the custom header uploader will no longer work. You have to upload the image to your media library and then insert the URL of the image into your custom CSS.

I’m experience the disappearing / re-appearing custom header-image issue as well. Three days ago I installed a custom image to my header and it looked fine. A few minutes later it reverted to a solid colored. Yesterday my custom image re-appeared. I visit my blog today, and it’s gone again — turned back into a solid color background (this phenomenon appears on all my configurations (OSX,XP … Safari, FFox 3, IE).

Help! Same problem as everyone else. Custom header appears only on the design page, not on the site. Theme is Redoable Lite, address is http://www.amyflynndesigns.wordpress.com . I’ve tried uploading the image (which is already the right size) from my computer, I’ve tried pulling it from my website server–nothing works.

@dyslexius – I see your header fine.
@artgirlraleigh – As mentioned further up, if you have custom CSS you cannot use the header uploader. You have to upload the image, copy the url, and paste it in the appropriate place in your CSS.

does anyone know why i can’t overite the css styles on the header bg-img with a new wide one?
-
@mtngantry, you should be able to do just that. But without a link to your blog, an indication of the theme you’re using, and the code that you’ve tried, it’s impossible to say why it’s not working.

i had the same thing happen but like sunpath my image was just a fraction too wide. resized and all sorted. best of luck…

is it possible to change the header using the fauna theme? i have custom CSS. according to the fauna website, http://www.noscope.com/fauna/, i should be able to. i cant figure out what to change in the css.

The blog in your user name is not using Fauna. What blog are you referring to? And if you do a search of the forums, you’ll find a way to add a customer header to ANY blog provided you have custom CSS
