Custom headers don't show up …

My custom headers don’t show up when I publish my NEW blog page … instead the preloaded headers are displayed.

Here is my new blog url: https://sketchingalways.wordpress.com

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @johnahancock, can you confirm you’re setting these images as the featured image for your pages and posts?

    No

    1. I have been importing images into Word Press

    2. Then I have loaded them into designated Uploaded Header images area within the
    Twenty Eleven theme.

    3. I hit the random rotation of Uploaded Images button

    4. I then hit Save Draft

    5. All my choices for Appearances is visible then … including one of my Uploaded
Header images appears in my draft of the Blog post.

    6. At that point I go to write/upload text for my blog and set the images that are within
    the blog.

    7. But then, when I hit publish, the ONLY images to show in the Header position on the
published Blog are is one of Pre-loaded images.

    8. Everything else from Appearances is again in its proper place … except that the
Uploaded Header image has been replaced by a Pre-loaded image from within the
    theme.

So … are you saying that I have to designate one of my Uploaded Header Image as a Featured Image to make it become the Header/Mast Head image? … otherwise one of the Preloaded Images remain as the Header? If I designate one of my images in the Uploaded HeaderImages list as a Featured Image … will the rotation function still work for the Header Images still work?

  • 4. I then hit Save Draft

That is why. Your changes are only saved as a draft in the Customizer, not published live on your site.

Go to the Customizer, click the gear icon, and change the option to Publish. Then click the Publish button in the Customizer to make the changes you made there live on your site.

No. Twenty-Eleven also support featured image headers. This means that besides setting a custom header image or images in the Customizer that applies to the entire site, you can also set specific header images for specific posts by uploading a featured image for a particular post. If you do that, that featured image will be used as header image only on that post, rather than the custom headers you specified for the site as a whole. On any post or page where you do not set a featured image, one of the rotating images will be used.
