Custom .htaccess with wordpress.com?

  I migrated my personal homebrew website to WordPress and have been running it on my own server. I’d like to move it (and its domain) to wordpress.com. I have a large number of 301 redirects in my .htaccess file, pointing URLs from my old site to their current locations in my WordPress site (and other places I’ve moved things, like Flickr), and I’d like to leave them in place for a time while Google, et al. catch up.

  Is it possible to edit the .htaccess file for a wp.com-hosted domain, or is there another solution for this problem?

  I’m sorry if this is already covered somewhere, I wasn’t able to finding it in the wp.com documentation or forums.

  No it is not possible to edit the .htaccess file here. In fact, I think there is just one master .htaccess file for the entire site.

  I can’t think of anyway to do this here at wordpress.COM. There simply isn’t any way to create a redirect table.

  It is not possible to edit .htaccess or to enter any custom redirects on WordPress.com.

  your only chance is to “age” the redirects on your own site until the search engines fix all their links – I moved my site onto WordPress.com a few months ago and Google drug up the old pages with the old directory structure and I am now stomping out Crawl Errors every few days – more errors than Posts since my old site was in site/wordpress/
