  I put my custom HTML on my site but every time I save and refresh the page, the code disappears. What is going on?

  You can’t put any html code in a free wordpress.com platform. In fact due to security reasons, the html code you can use is very limited – https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/custom-html-block/#supported-html-tags.
  What were you trying to insert, perhaps there is another solution.
