Custom HTML – Preview Looks Great, Published Block shows nothing

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I’m using a PipeDrive webform HTML Embed code. When I use the block editor ‘Custom HTML’ block, the WordPress ‘Preview’ Shows the webform exactly as I expect it should appear. However, when I hit save / Publish and then preview / view the website, all that shows up is a weird link and no webform.

Why does the Custom HTML preview look correct but the published version is broken?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff! Are you trying that on your site at jefffarrick.wordpress.com?

If so, it’s not saving your HTML because our free site option doesn’t allow embedded 3rd party code to function, for security reasons. You can put it into a post, but it will be stripped as soon as it’s saved or previewed.

To add 3rd party code like that you would need our Business plan. Alternatively, you could try starting a self-hosted solution where you install the open source WordPress software on another host, or you could start a local-hosted solution (on your computer) to test your HTML embed code on. Either of those two options do have have the limitation that you get here on WordPress.com with the free site.

If you know you will use WordPress software, and you need support, keep our Business plan in mind: that gives you 24/7 access to live chat support from our Happiness Engineers. Not many other options out there provide that.
