Custom Image Header

I have “chaotic soul” as my theme and I’m trying to make a good looking custom header. But everytime I make one my picture is real blurry and ugly.

How do I make the picture clear? At the moment I’m adding a picture to a Microsoft Word document. From there I add some text to the picture and then rip the picture to a PDF and convert it to a JPEG.

    Any suggestions?

    THANK YOU!

It’s all the conversion going on that is the likely problem. It is best to work with the image in an actual image editing program like MS Paint (not the best choice) or something like the free program called “Gimp” http://www.gimp.org/ .

Also, what is the image of? Is it a photograph, or is it a graphic? JPG will always make text fuzzy because of anti-aliasing. If the image is graphic and not photographic, then PNG is much better with GIF bringing up the rear.

Also, crop and size the image to the exact pixel dimensions required for the theme prior to uploading it. WordPress’ crop tool is far less than optimal.

You are the man sacredpath. One more question though…….How do I know what is the best pixel size?

    Thanks bro!

On the custom header image page, it will tell you the size of the image for the theme you are using.

    And you are very welcome.
