custom links for images in gallery
-
Hi – I’m on WordPress.com and trying to add a custom link from an image in an image gallery. I don’t see an option for this anywhere, all I see is “Attachment page” or “media file” or “none”. What I’d like to have is a set of images with each linking to a specific website. I have images of books I’ve written on my blog, and I’d like them to link to the amazon page where they are sold. I’m able to do this with individual images by editing the HTML and adding the link manually, but the HTML for a gallery just says “gallery”.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
If you’re using images in a gallery, you cannot link to custom URLs by clicking on the images. However, you may think about adding your images individually…perhaps in an HTML table to keep things neat…and linking those images to your Amazon.com pages.
If you’d like to do this, but aren’t yet comfortable creating your own HTML tables, you can use an HTML table generator, like this one:
http://www.quackit.com/html/html_table_generator.cfmHTML code can be placed in the HTML tab (in the new editor), or the Text tab (if you’re still using the classic editor). Then, you can return to your Visual tab to add your images, or to do any additional formatting.
You can also simply add individual images to a page or post, and link those individual images to the outside page you wish.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Thanks so much, I’ll check that out. I tried a table before, by using my own HTML, and it didn’t work out well. Even though I specified table height and width as well as picture size, the table kept being too wide and not getting centered, and the pictures were too large for the table and had to manually be resized before uploading, which was too much work for me. I’ll see if that table generator works better, thanks again for the quick response!
In the meantime, I did link the images individually and that works just fine, it’s just that it uses up so much space by having them all one under the other, and one next to the other would be more aesthetically pleasing:-)
