Custom menu

I have a a custom menu, to be shown at the secondary menu location. At first I had 2 menus, but I merged them (moving all the links to one menu, and deleting the other one). I only want one custom menu, at the secondary location. Since then, the primary location keeps showing the first link – entitled “Que es Esqueria”, which is a Page of the blog. How can I remove this link from the primary location, keeping this location void? Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

By default, your theme will put any pages you create into that primary menu. If you want that primary menu location to be empty, you can create a new custom menu and then save it without adding any items to it. Then, assign that custom menu to the primary menu location. (Basically, you’re replacing the default menu for your site with an empty custom menu.)

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

    Hi Rachel,
Thanks for your response. I tried as you said: I created a new menu, empty; but though assigned to the primary location, and the other menu assigned to the secondary location (and the “checks” showing so in the dashboard), the site keeps showing the menu at the primary location, moving the empty menu to the secondary location!
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks again, anyway!

    Hi there,

I’m sorry that didn’t work for you! It turns out that when you create a completely empty menu, that empty column where the primary menu would go is removed entirely. That moves the column for the secondary menu over to the left.

I investigated this a bit and found a solution that should work for you: You can add an item to your empty menu, but delete the “Link Text” or “Navigation Label” for that item and add a single space there, instead. That way the menu item won’t appear on your site but the column won’t be removed, either.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

    Hi Rachel,
Thanks again. Your suggestion worked perfectly, so now I have a “void column” on the left, and my menu on the right, as I wanted. Great!
    Thanks again!!
(I change the topic to “resolved”.)
