Custom Menu Widget for Twenty Twelve theme will not load

Hi – this issue seems related to a January 2013 closed issue. I’m new to WordPress and trying to set up a website template (want to be sure it can look the way I want before I load to the server where current site is hosted), and entirely new to wordpress… using Twenty Twelve theme which as per the theme demo will support a list of horizontal, top menu items… but the Custom Menu widget will NOT “move to the right”. Have tried several times to no avail. What am I doing wrong…?? I’m just at the beginning of this process and “self-taught” would be an optimistic way of expressing my skills!

    1) What items exactly? If you mean links to static pages, you just create and publish these pages in Pages > Add New. If you mean other links then you need a custom menu.
    2) The Custom Menu widget is used to place a custom menu in the sidebar, not in the header.
For more precise advice you can temporarily switch to the middle privacy option, if you wish, so we can see the blog and speak in more concrete terms.
In the meantime you can study my post on custom menus:

Thanks- I think I figured out that I was confusing menu links with core menu so have just about got it- creat page then move it to menu … Rocky start but I am getting there
