Custom menu with hundreds of nested pages not possible

When creating a custom menu I found WP will limit the number of menu items to what fits on the menu configuration page.
In my case it was exactly 89 menu/child page items in all. It’s quite far from the over 400 that I need!
This is important for me since what I need to do is create Static Parent Tabs for my menu.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
