Custom Permalinks
-
Hi,
When I first started my blog a couple of years ago, I thought there was an area in Admin Settings where you can customise the Permalink for the site.
1. Has this option been removed and gone to a plugin? Do I need a Business Plan for plugins as I’m on Premium?2. Is there a way to set the Permalink in the post so that it doesn’t publish a date? Clicking Publish seems to add the published date in the URL.
Many thanks :)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Permalink structure cannot be changed on WordPress.COM hosted sites. Titles and publication dates are embedded into URLs and this has always been the case.
Changing permalink structure can only be done on WordPress.ORG installs. Moving to self hosted WordPress http://move.wordpress.com.

Alternatively, you can upgrade to a Business plan and use a plugin.
There is no FTP access to wordpress.COM hosted sites.

Hi there,
Permalink structure cannot be edited on WordPress.com – it has never been possible here. You’ll need a self-hosted site, or a Business Plan site with plugins, as @timethief mentioned above.
On a non-Business Plan WordPress.com site post URLs will always display the date – only the URL slug can be customised from the post editor.

Many thanks timethief and kokkieh, and yes, I know how to edit the slug, but this doesn’t remove the date once published. :-)
