Custom themes on the Business plan

Not subscribed yet, but doing my research before I do it at some point. I plan to use either the Divi or Extra theme from Elegant Themes. Will they be ok to upload, since there will be a parent theme to upload followed by a child theme? Is there a file size limit imposed on custom theme uploads?

On WordPress.com, uploading custom themes is now a feature of the Business plan:
WordPress Free doesn’t not support uploading of custom WordPress themes to their service. This is only available in self-hosted version(WordPress.org).

Hi –
On WordPress.com you can upload a custom theme like you’ve described as part of the Business Plan. There is a 50mb size limit, and most themes will meet this requirement. If the file size is much larger it’s best to double check that you’ve not downloaded any extra bits and pieces of the theme – you just need the core theme.
The WordPress.com plans and features are listed at wordpress.com/pricing/
The plan upgrades also give you priority live chat and private email support from our team. Whereas with self hosted WordPress you’ll use the community forum at wordpress.org/support/ for help.

That’s great but how do you actually upload the ZIP file? There is no “add new” theme. And yes I have the business plan.

Since you mentioned you are on the WordPressdotcom Business upgrade plan, you are eligible for direct assistance by Staff by email and live chat (when available). kristinpb – I do not see a business plan upgrade on your account. Is it possible you’ve added it to a different user account? Which site are you working on?
