Custom twitter message broken?
-
Hi,
My blog posts have been shared on twitter for years now with no issues, and I’ve always been able to put in a custom twitter message with hastags and tagging people if I need to. But now, when editing in the classic WP editor mode, I input a custom twitter message, then save or schedule my post and when the post reloads the twitter message that I wrote disappears replaced instead with my blog title. This then makes the actual twitter post display only the blog post title and not all the hashtags and other things I wrote. Why won’t the custom twitter message work anymore? It’s very annoying as I have to vsit twitter each time to re-post my blog post with hashtags, etc. WordPress’s custom message made connecting to twitter easier, and now it won’t work. :( Please help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
When did this start to happen?
Also, you mentioned the Classic Editor. Are you using the old editor or the Classic Editor block?
-
This only started to happen on Monday. I’ve been using the classic editor as it’s faster and easier to use for me and have been switching to it after starting a post with a classic block. But I had no issues with it until monday :(

Hi there,
I can confirm this is happening on my side as well.
There was a bug with Publicize in the classic editor that was discovered on the same day you created this forum thread. That bug has since been fixed, but I suspect this might be another side-effect of the same issue.
I’ve reported it to our developers to look into. I’ll let you know once I hear more.
For now, it might be best to use the block editor instead for setting the Publicize message. In other words, once you’ve finished your post, save it, then switch back to the block editor, and use that for the final steps of setting your custom Twitter message and scheduling the post. Then your custom message should post correctly.

Thank you! I’ve just tried it and it works to go to the block editor. Quite annoying to go back and forrth but at least it’s better than nothing happening. Thanks! :)

Just an update that our developers have already found the cause and a fix is in progress. So hopefully this should be working again later today.

Okay, this issue should be fixed now, but please let us know if you run into any other Publicize issues with your next post.
Thanks again for reporting this.
