Custom Upgrade says £20 but it isn't possible to purchase at this price
-
When I try to go into Appearance Custom Design of the dashboard it says upgrade for £20 per year. But like other have said, when I click on that it only gives me the option of £70.
I am currently trying to remove the menu titles in the header of the Goran theme which can only be done as far as I can see with a line of code in the CSS. Was so very disappointed to see that this option is now not available for £20. But as it actually says £20 under the Appearance custom design, should it not be honoured? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your account is older than Sept 1, 2014 so you should be able to buy the upgrade for $30.- and not be required to buy the overpriced Cable TV Bundle Up-sell upgrade for $99.-
I will flag this for the staff and see what they say

Many thanks for your quick reply. The account I am working on is not in my name and I set it up just recently.
greatmissendentkd.wordpress.comBut it does still say £20 under Appearance Custom Design option. I will screenshot this as evidence! ;-)
I just saw your other reply to someone else with the same question to say about transferring to another blog account. I could do this but it’s not ideal for many reasons, but I appreciate your suggestion and the fact that you didn’t support the price hike.
I will try to contact the theme developer of Goran to see if they can add a theme option of removing the menu titles from the Header. £70 just to do this is quite a price.
Perhaps time to move to wordpress.org?
Many thanks for your time, much appreciated.

You could try adding an older account to the blog as an Admin – the new Admin should be able to buy the upgrade at a reasonable cost and the blog stays in the original account – worth a try

Auxclass, that worked, and you have made a real difference today! Not just saving me £50, but time, worry and stress avoided (am accepting the late night though!). I am designing the site for someone as a favour with a tight deadline and thanks to your help can now add that precious line of code which will avoid me having to undo all the work that I have done and look for a new theme.
I love wordpress.com and over the last year as a novice user and helping develop sites for small local start up businesses, I have relied heavily upon the Custom Design feature at the ‘relatively’ reasonable £20 to create decent looking sites. Putting the fee up to £70 is putting the option of making subtle but crucial changes out of reach of many novice users. If my words could be forwarded to ‘the wordpress.com powers that be’ and could help in any way, I could write much more on this subject!
Many thanks to you!

You be welcome – glad it worked & good luck
I have flagged this for staff attention so they will see what you have written
I and many others argued against the Cable TV Bundle Up-Sell pricing and we lost – the old system was fair and people only needed to buy what they really needed – I have some friends that have passed on WordPress.COM due to the new pricing policy
I think they should go back to the individual upgrades being available but offer a bit of a price break based on how much a blog has for upgrades – such as a 5% discount at $45.- worth of upgrades and use a sliding scale at maybe $60 – – $70- or something like that – I would save no money on my suggestion at my current upgrade level –
Sort of like the coupon I got from a store last week – save $5.- if I bought $25.- worth of merchandise – that rewards folks for buying a bit more and EVERYONE likes to save a bit somewhere

Thank you for reporting this. I’m so sorry it caused confusion. The Appearance > Custom Design page has been updated so that others won’t see that problem in the future.
