custom url gone
-
Hi, My company website url is http://www.pvpr.nl. I used to be able to type that and it would show my site, with that url in the address. But now it shows the wordpress url pvpr.wordpress.com. I called my hosting company and they said their setting are all ok but WordPress needs to show the generic address. Likely this is something I can do myself? But how?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Could you check what is your Primary Domain by following the instructions in this support guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#setting-the-primary-domain
Set your Primary Domain to pvpr.nl, if it is not already and see it it helps.

Primary domain is the wordpress url. But when I change it to pvpr.nl and then go to pvpr.nl it fails and reads ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS.

on the domains page, under pvpr.nl it says ‘site redirect’. I think I might have set a redirect to see if that helps. If that is now the issue, how do I undo that redirect? It only allows me to edit the url to redirect to, but not cancel or end a redirect…..

Hi there,
Do you want to use your domain, pvpr.nl with your WordPress.com site? In that case you’ll need to buy the domain mapping upgrade. The domain mapping upgrade is used to connect a domain you already own to a WordPress.com site.
The site redirect does the opposite: It sends all traffic to your WordPress.com site, to a completely different site instead. You can cancel your redirect for a full refund from the Purchases page:
https://wordpress.com/purchasesThen you can add the mapping upgrade by going to My Sites ->Domains ->Add Domain ->Map It.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/Let me know if you need more help with this.

Hi, Thank you so much for your answer. We are getting close! I cancelled the redirect, and then purchased mapping. But now if I set pvpr.nl as my primary domain, I still get an error message. And even funnier, the message in Safari reads ‘pvpr.nl//’ cannot be loaded. It explains that the reason can be that the page contains a redirect that redirects back to the original page. In chrome it says too many redirects.

There is one last step you still need to complete for the mapping to work: The domain’s name servers need to be set to WordPress.com. You need to do this at the registrar where you bought your domain.
The name servers must be set to:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMOnce you make that change at your registrar, the domain should start working in a few hours.

Hi, Thanks again for your time. I read this myself somewhere too and asked my registrar to do this for me. They are working on it as we speak!
